Forest Therapy at FoxHaven

A Guided Journey into Nature & the Psyche

There are times in life when our concerns become so loud that we can no longer hear the quieter voice of the soul. Forest Therapy at FoxHaven offers an opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and enter a living conversation with nature, imagination, and the deeper wisdom within.

Unlike a hike or a counselling session conducted outdoors, Forest Therapy is a guided symbolic experience rooted in Jungian psychology, story, and the healing presence of the natural world.

Our two-hour session begins with a walk through the forests of FoxHaven. Together, we gather the questions, worries, conflicts, griefs, or life transitions that are seeking attention. Rather than analyzing them immediately, we carry them symbolically into the woods, allowing the forest itself to become a companion in the process.

Along the way, we pause to notice what captures attention: a tree, a stone, an animal track, a patch of sunlight, a fallen branch. Nature often speaks in images before the intellect can grasp their meaning. These encounters frequently reveal surprising perspectives on the challenges we carry.

At the heart of the experience is a visit to the Baba Yaga Hut, nestled among the trees. Drawing on the wisdom of the ancient fairytale crone who dwells at the edge of the known world, participants are invited to leave their burdens, questions, and concerns in the hut for a time. Symbolically setting them down creates space for reflection, imagination, and new possibilities to emerge.

Following our time in the forest, we return to my office for an analytical debrief. Together, we explore the images, emotions, memories, and insights that arose during the walk. Through a Jungian lens, we consider how the psyche may be responding to your current life circumstances and what invitations toward growth, healing, or meaning may be emerging.

Forest Therapy can be especially helpful during periods of transition, grief, burnout, creative impasse, spiritual questioning, retirement, relationship challenges, or whenever life feels crowded with concerns that cannot be solved through thinking alone.

The forest has long been the setting of transformation in fairytales. Heroes and heroines enter the woods lost, confused, or burdened, and emerge carrying new wisdom. Forest Therapy invites you into that same ancient journey.
